Sometimes the two cards dealt by the dealer are consecutive. The example of consecutive cards is 7 and 8 or J and Q. In the case of a consecutive hand the hand is declared a push and the player is given his original bet back. The spread is the number of values that fall between two drawn cards.
When the spread is announced and marked (by the Red Dog), players have to decide whether they want to raise an initial bet or not.
